How to Determine if Your Heel Pain is
Plantar Fasciitis?

If you are experiencing heel pain, it is important to determine the cause in order to treat it effectively. One common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis, which is inflammation of the plantar fascia, a band of tissue that runs across the bottom of your foot from your heel to your toes. Plantar fasciitis can be caused by a variety of factors, including overuse, tight calf muscles, high arches or flat feet, or shoes that do not provide enough support.

If you think you may be suffering from plantar fasciitis, there are a few things you can do to confirm the diagnosis. First, try to identify when your pain is at its worst. Is it first thing in the morning when you get out of bed? Or is it after you have been standing or walking for a long period of time? If your pain is worse when you first get out of bed in the morning, it is likely plantar fasciitis. This is because the plantar fascia tightens up overnight and can be very painful when you first put weight on it in the morning.

Another way to determine if your heel pain is plantar fasciitis is to press on the arch of your foot. If this causes pain, it is likely that you are suffering from plantar fasciitis. Finally, try stretching your calf muscles and Achilles tendon. If this makes your plantar fasciitis pain worse, it is likely that tight calf muscles are contributing to your condition.
